Have we been Scrooged?

I live near a town of 20,000. Two shopping malls. Went there Saturday and not a single toy store or any even selling any. A woman in the corridor had 2 remote control cars and 2 remote control helicopters for sale. That's it! And the mall seemed devoid of decorations, yet out side streets had plenty. And homes are lit up more than ever this year. So has Oregon been Scrooged or is this happening elsewhere?
