Going from 2 pronged outlets to 3 pronged?

i need to replace the outlets in my house. i have 2 pronged outlets and want to go to 3 pronged outlets. where do i put the 3rd conductor (grounded). do i just tie them together and fasten them to the box? or do i have to run them to an earth ground outside or something
